Las Vegas Gospel Choir Opens to an Energized Crowd at the 2008 Gala Dinner!

2008 Gala Dinner Gospel Chior

Whether it was the heartfelt and motivating words of Joe Solmonese or the amazing musical talents of Thelma Houston that energized the attendees at the 3rd Annual Las Vegas HRC Gala Dinner, everyone in attendance will tell you that that night will not be easily forgotten.

Almost six hundred members of the Las Vegas community along with representatives of other communities across the country gathered together at Mandalay Bay on Saturday, September 6th to celebrate the accomplishments of the LGBT community as well as to remind everyone about the upcoming challenges that lie ahead.

With the numerous fair-minded candidates currently running for office and the expansive number of LGBT friendly initiatives under debate, there could not be a more vital time for members of our community to take a stance, speak their point of view, and show their support for the hard work currently being done to ensure that one day members of the LGBT community obtain the equal rights that we deserve. A special thank you goes out to Congresswomen Shelley Berkley, Senator Dina Titus, Assemblymen David Parks and the many other elected officials that celebrated the evening with us and committed their support to the LGBT community.

Members of the Las Vegas HRC Steering Committee would like to thank everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, or showed support for our largest fundraising event of the year.  Because of supporters like you we are able to hold many events throughout the year in order to create awareness and change within the LGBT and straight community.  Events such as the Family Reunion Picnic and town hall meetings not only bring members of our community together, but are essential to our fight to get the rights we deserve.  Without the support of you, none of this would be possible and the amazing developments seen within our community would not be occurring.  Again, we thank you immensely for your support and we look forward to working with many more of you during the upcoming year.

With the election now less than a month away, HRC and Camp Equality will be working full steam ahead. Some of the activities that are planned by Camp Equality are as follows:

Phone banking every Wednesday (5pm - 8:30pm) and Saturday (12pm - 4pm) at the Titus Campaign Headquarters 3711 E. Sunset Road, Suites C4-C6 Las Vegas, NV 89120.  We ask that anyone volunteering mention HRC/Camp Equality when checking in.
